Tahoe Living

The lake is big. The lifestyle is even bigger.

Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America—and just a short walk or ride from Sierra Colina on forested walking and biking trails, pristine beaches await.

But spend any amount of time here, and you'll soon realize that the Tahoe lifestyle is about so much more than a lake. This isn't just a ski town, a golf destination, an outdoor-recreation paradise, or a place where the night comes alive: It's all of those things, all in one place that sees 300 days of sun. And that means your Tahoe lifestyle is limited only by your imagination (well, and maybe the need to rest at least once in a while).

Skiing / Snowboarding

The slopes here are world-renowned, and South Lake Tahoe features nearly 9,000 acres for resort skiing and snowboarding on almost 200 trails. At Sierra Colina, you're minutes away from the best skiing in the area—Heavenly Resort—and within an hour of 11 major ski resorts, including Sierra at Tahoe, Kirkwood, Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, and more.

Golf

You don't have to drive far to hit your drive—lakefront golf is literally 5 minutes from Sierra Colina. Still, with more than 50 golf courses in the Tahoe area, you could play a championship layout every week for a year without playing the same course twice. Our favorite just might be the world-class Edgewood Tahoe, which hosts the annual American Century Championship in July.

Outdoor Activities

Boating. Swimming. Hiking. Biking. Snowshoeing. Even if you don't ski or golf—or if you just want a little variety—Lake Tahoe is a natural playground with something for everyone. Did we mention the 300 days of sunshine a year?

Health & Well-Being

Need to take a spa day? Want to increase your mindfulness, nourish your body, soothe your soul? You're in the right place. Wellness opportunities abound in Tahoe, including posh resort spas, expert massage therapists, yoga and Pilates studios and more—all designed to put the focus on you.

Shopping

Whether you're looking for gear or seeking out high fashion, you can find it at our local shops and boutiques. And because stunning scenery tends to attract those who appreciate it most, Lake Tahoe has a wealth of artists; their unique creations give a deeper meaning to the life we share here.

Tahoe After Dark

When the sun dips below the horizon, Tahoe transforms. Hit the dance floor at one of our clubs. Try your luck at the slots or table games at a local casino. Or just sit back and soak it all in, because the people-watching here is world-class, too.

Californians Want a Lower Cost of Living

More than 50% of Californians who responded to a recent survey said they are considering moving out of the state—mostly due to the high cost of living.

Skyrocketing housing prices are largely driving the discontent, but one expert told CNBC that he thinks the state's tax environment also is going to be a problem going forward. "Taxes are a real killer if you're upper middle class," said Joel Kotkin, a presidential fellow in Urban Futures at Chapman University in Orange, Calif. "There's also concern among people looking to retire and having their income taxed into oblivion."
